I have never attended Phoenix World Burn Congress before.  Do you have any helpful suggestions on how to maneuver through my first time?

When is Phoenix World Burn Congress 2017?

Phoenix WBC is October 4-7 in Dallas, TX.


How do you make hotel reservations and what is the fee?

Our room block is at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel. We have negotiated a rate of $185 per night, plus tax. This rate includes complimentary internet as well as pool and health club access.  Attendees may make reservations by calling 1-888-627-8191. Please let the reservation agent know that you are booking a room for Phoenix World Burn Congress in order to receive our reduced rate.  Reservations can also be made online through the Sheraton Dallas’ Phoenix World Burn Congress link. What is the registration fee and what does it include?

Registration is $285 on or before September 6, 2017.  Registration will be $385 after September 6, 2017.  The registration fee includes: Wednesday evening's kick-off event, Saturday evening's closing banquet, one breakfast, and two coffee breaks.   For additional information, download the Registration Brochure.

What is there to do in Dallas, TX?

Is there available parking in downtown Dallas?

Valet parking is available on-site:

Daily Valet Parking:
0–20 minutes: Free
20 minutes – 4 hours: $23
4 hours – 8 hours: $28
8+ hours: $31

Daily Self Parking:
0 - 20 minutes: Free
20 minutes - 2 hours: $15
2 hours - 4 hours: $20
4+ hours: $23

Height restrictions: 6.5 feet at hotel side entrance, 7 feet at first-floor conference side. RV Parking is not available.

Local downtown pay lots and garages are located within close proximity.


Is there transportation between the hotel and airport?

The Dallas Fire and Rescue Department and DFW Airport Department of Public Safety Fire Service will assist attendees from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (Airport code DFW) and Dallas Love Field (Airport code DAL) to the Sheraton Dallas Hotel.  On Sunday, after Phoenix World Burn Congress has concluded, the firefighters will also shuttle you back. The firefighters will be easily recognizable by their uniform appearance and signage.

What are the Pre-Congress Workshops this year?

There will be several Pre-Congress Workshops to choose from this year for an additional $35 fee. Learn about:

Phoenix World Burn Congress is also offering family-focused workshops, free of charge and open to all conference attendees. These workshops have been designed to meet the specific needs of parents and families navigating through the journey of burn recovery.  Read more details about each one.

Are you having any special sessions this year?

Phoenix World Burn Congress boasts many breakout topics catering to attendees from all areas of the burn world. Topics range from relevant skills, reclaiming life after a burn injury, overcoming trauma, addiction and recovery issues to reflective processing. There will be a special session dedicated to advocacy and the importance of building codes, presented by Lorraine Carli, VP of Outreach and Advocacy for the National Fire Protection Association. What will the Phoenix UBelong Youth and Family Program cover?

Phoenix Society is excited to offer Phoenix UBelong -- Families, young adults, teens, and kids together in Burn Recovery.  Registration is open to burn survivors, siblings, and children of adult survivors, ages 7-17 years old and young adults ages 18-25 years old.  Read more about Phoenix UBelong. It is a one-of-a-kind program designed to positively inspire and support children and teens.


Will you have childcare for those under the age of 7 who cannot attend the Youth Programming?

The Phoenix Society is unable to offer contracted onsite, conference-specific childcare services this year. If you are traveling with young children and need childcare services, there may be local drop-in childcare options available in the Dallas area. What if I need funding help to get to Phoenix World Burn Congress?

There are many ways to get assistance to attend Phoenix World Burn Congress 2017! Consider reaching out to your local burn center, foundation, or local fire service. Many of these organizations help burn survivors and their family members attend. The Phoenix World Burn Congress George Pessotti Scholarship applications are due to July 1, 2017.  Contact the Phoenix Society our call us at 800-888-2876 for other ideas and suggestions.


What do I need to pack?  Is there a dress code?

There is no special dress code for Phoenix World Burn Congress. Bring clothing that you are comfortable wearing and weather appropriate. We highly suggest checking the local weather a few days before arrival to help guide you with what to pack. We do recommend bringing a sweater/light jacket for indoors as some rooms will be cooler than others depending on the air conditioning controls.

Saturday evening's Closing Banquet does not have a dress code. Some attendees take the opportunity to dress up and others come in casual attire to the banquet.  It is really about what makes you the most comfortable!


What is the weather going to be like in Providence?

For the month of October, Dallas averages a high of 79 degrees Fahrenheit and an average low of 58 degrees Fahrenheit. (Source: Weather Channel.)


What types of special needs are you able to accommodate?

We are able to help with visual, auditory, and dietary needs.  Please notify Pam at the Phoenix Society by September 23, 2016 if you require ADA accommodations.

How do I rent medical equipment?
