Who is eligible to apply for the scholarship?
Burn survivors, family members and professionals in the field of burn care or burn prevention are eligible to apply.
Do I need to fill out a separate application for each person?
No, please include everyone in your family applying for the scholarship on the same application.
Do you provide scholarships to Phoenix UBelong Youth and Teens?
Yes, scholarship awards are available for children and teens between the ages of 7-17. Please note that the Phoenix UBelong Youth and Teen program reached capacity quickly last year and we anticipate it will reach capacity again this year. If you plan to register your child for Phoenix UBelong, we suggest you secure your registration early on/prior to hearing about your scholarship status to secure your child's registration to the program.
When can I apply?
Applications for the 2018 scholarship are now closed. Check back in early 2019 for next year's scholarship application.
When is the application due?
Final deadline for the 2018 Phoenix World Burn Congress George Pessotti Scholarship Fund is June 1, 2018 at 12:00pm EST.
When will I be notified if I receive a scholarship?
The Phoenix Society will review all applications following the deadline. We will notify you as soon as possible regarding the status of your application.
How are you chosen?
Applications are separated into first-time applicants and repeat applicants. Priority is given to first time applicants, although scholarships are not guaranteed to all first-time applicants. Scholarships will be awarded at random to first time applicants, then to repeat applicants.
What does the scholarship cover?
Scholarship award may include lodging and up to (no more than) two compensated registrations per family/household. Scholarships for travel (flight, train tickets, parking fees, gas mileage, etc.) are not offered.
Where else can I go to raise money to attend?
Many other organizations, including hospitals, burn camps, burn foundations and firefighter organizations also have scholarships to Phoenix WBC available. You can also look into grant or crowd-funding options.
