For more than 35 years, the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors has been the leader in providing resources, education, and peer support to the burn community. Our goal is to ensure that everyone who has been affected by a burn injury has an environment of support and the tools needed to thrive again. However, we know that many people still do not have access to the face-to-face educational offerings and support activities that so many survivors and their families value and need. To ensure that no one has to travel the road of recovery alone, the Phoenix Society has made the following resources and programs available through our website, http://www.phoenixsociety.org:
ONLINE LEARNING COURSES, such as
Beyond Surviving, Tools for Thriving—Focused on helping survivors and their families feel more confident and better equipped to handle the questions, stares, and social situations they may face when returning home after a burn injury, this program presents tips and exercises that countless burn survivors have found invaluable. Creative Cosmetics: An Image Enhancement Program—Designed to teach burn survivors with facial differences how to use creative make-up as a therapeutic aid, the noninvasive techniques presented here can increase self-esteem and ease community reentry for both men and women. The Journey Back—Developed as a tool to assist with school reentry following a burn injury or traumatic loss, the goal of this program is to give students a positive return-to-school experience and an opportunity for a better, faster recovery of their academic, physical, social, and emotional self.
