Regardless of why you volunteer, giving back to the burn community is a great way to help others get back to living.
Hosted by Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors, Phoenix World Burn Congress is the world's largest gathering of the burn survivors and their loved ones, connecting attendees with support, resources, and each other.
I was 14 and thought I was invincible. On May 14, 1988, I found out I wasn’t. In a heartbeat, I went from a tired, but happy teenager who had spent the day at an amusement park with my friend, Emillie’s church youth group, to a terrified child trying to escape from a raging inferno.
Mark and Steve Joyner have shared in each other’s lives since birth. In 2016, the twins shared in each other’s healing too. Six years after Steve’s burn injury, Mark joined him at Phoenix World Burn Congress for the first time.
Today, Howard is intentional in looking back and leveraging his past to build a better future for burn survivors everywhere.
This year’s Phoenix World Burn Congress is shaping up to be our largest ever with over 1,000 attendees and a youth and family program at full capacity. Our supporters have really stepped up to provide the funding needing to meet this growth. Join us in thanking them for providing healing, hope, and a connection to a national burn community! Their support truly changes lives - as told in the story of just one of the inspiring survivors here with us this week....
