Phoenix SOAR Training - The Commitment Grows At Phoenix WBC 2014

The ongoing commitment to provide one-one-one peer support to burn survivors and their loved ones continues to grow!

Phoenix SOAR Coordinator Training at Phoenix WBC

Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors conducted multiple Phoenix SOAR (Survivors Offering Assistance in Recovery) training sessions at Phoenix World Burn Congress 2014. Phoenix SOAR is a hospital-based program designed by Phoenix Society and a national committee of experts to train burn survivors and their families, so they may volunteer as peer supporters for burn patients and their families.

Phoenix SOAR connects survivors to a compassionate community of people who share the experience of a burn injury - from someone who's 'been there'.  The purpose of the program is simple yet powerful: that no survivor of a burn injury should feel alone as they make this journey.

On Tuesday, October 21st, Phoenix Society welcomed representatives to the Phoenix SOAR Instructor training class from:

  • St Elizabeth Regional Burn Center
  • Tampa General Hospital Regional Burn Center

A second training class was conducted for Phoenix SOAR Coordinators. The coordinator and instructors are critical roles for the Phoenix SOAR program and allows for overseeing the program at a local level, providing quality training, and coordinating peer supporters visits with patients.  We welcome the attendees at the Coordinator training session:
