2016 Breslau Award
Chief Ronald Siarnicki: 2016 Alan & Delwyn Breslau Award Recipient
Chief Ronald Siarnicki received this year’s Alan and Delwyn Breslau Award, the highest distinction the Phoenix Society can bestow. It honors a member, who through a collaborative spirit, significantly enhanced the ability of the Society to fulfill its mission. Chief Siarnicki was selected for his “enthusiastic and visionary service to the Phoenix Society and the burn community at large,” according to Phoenix Society President Lorraine Carli. She described Chief Siarnicki’s support as “pivotal as the organization has grown from a small nationally focused organization to a global leader in expanding psychosocial recovery resources. ”Over the last 14 years, Chief Siarnicki served on the Society’s board of directors, including as its president, during a time of growth; served on several committees; and led strategic initiatives. Chief Siarnicki, who retired in 2001 as Chief of the Department of Fire/EMS in Prince Georges County, Maryland, and has served since then as the executive director of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, has played a key role in the cultivation of relationships between the Phoenix Society and the fire service, as well as corporations.
