4th Annual Flying Pig Relay Race for Burn Survivors -

the best year yet!

Team RISE (Runners Inspired by Survivors Everywhere) participated again this year in the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 4th. Everett family members,   old friends, and new friends came together to make up Team RISE. This year there were 12 relay teams and 4 full marathoners (three of which, were 1st time marathoners)!  For many of the runners, this was their first race! This year's Team RISE sponsors were Master Fry Defense Systems, Best Furniture Gallery, and Meters & Miles.

The Everett family held a pre-pasta party the night before the big event, and donations were collected from each of the runners. All involved were very excited to hear that everyones combined efforts raised over $25,000, with some donations still trickling in.  We can't possibly thank all who participated and donated to this effort.

We also would like to encourage other Phoenix Society members to think about going to Cincinnati for a weekend and joining Team RISE. The Flying Pig Marathon for 2009 is scheduled for May 3rd.
