Past Recipient Considers Herself "One Of The Lucky Ones"

Laurie Sulfaro Vertuccio was one of the first recipients of the PEG Scholarship in 2002.  She graduated in 2003 from Endicott College with a Master of Business Administration.  She is currently employed and doing work in marketing communications.  Laurie stays involved with the burn community by attending monthly burn survivor support group meetings when she can.  She also attends a dinner dance and walkathon in Boston.  The PEG scholarship helped Laurie continue on with her graduate education by giving her the much needed financial support.  This in turn gave her the opportunity to take her career to the next level.  Laurie says that “being a burn survivor has taught me to be confident in everything I do.”  She is proud to be a burn survivor and is grateful to the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors for the PEG scholarship.  Laurie likes to consider herself “one of the lucky ones who has made a successful career for herself, and created a beautiful family”.
