Sandy Reckert-Reusing is director of communications and public affairs at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. In her role, Sandy manages the office of public affairs, serves as the Medical Center's spokesperson and oversees publications, writing and design. Johns Hopkins Bayview also is home to the Johns Hopkins Burn Center.
A 17-year veteran of Johns Hopkins Bayview, Sandy has been instrumental in the success of numerous service excellence initiatives, special events and public relations campaigns. In 2006, she was presented a Leadership Award and named Non-Clinical Manager of the Year.
Sandy graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Baltimore (UB) with a bachelor's degree in professional writing. She also earned a master's degree in publications design and writing from UB.
Sandy worked with The Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors during the 2005 World Burn Congress. "Working with such a dedicated group of people was very inspiring," says Sandy. "The volunteers, Phoenix Society staff and the burn survivors and their families were amazing. I knew I wanted to continue to be involved with such a worthwhile organization."
