My name is Christine Jurus and I currently live in Grand Rapids, MI. I just started working for The Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors as a Program Coordinator. I will be helping with many of their programs and am very excited about being a part of the organization. I finished my Master of Social Work degree this past August at the University of Denver. I did my undergraduate work at Grand Valley State University here in Grand Rapids. I became involved with The Phoenix Society eight years ago after my burn injury. I was burned November 24, 1999 in a chemical explosion at my high school. My chemistry teacher was doing an experiment with methanol and did not take proper precautions and when it exploded, I was the closest one sitting next to it. Since then I have always had a passion for working with other burn survivors and their families. I look forward to chatting with you all and hope to be able to meet everyone at the World Burn Congress!
