Christine Jurus worked for the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors as the Program Coordinator from 2008-2011. She helped manage many of their programs and enjoyed being a part of the organization. Christine finished her Master of Social Work degree in August of 2007 at the University of Denver. She did her undergraduate work at Grand Valley State University. Christine became involved with the Phoenix Society nine years ago after her burn injury. She was burned November 24, 1999 in a chemical explosion at her high school. The chemistry teacher was doing an experiment with methanol and did not take proper precautions. It exploded, and she happened to be the one sitting closest to it. Since then, Christine has had a passion for working with other burn survivors and their families. |
