Are You on Team Phoenix?

Calling all runners, walkers, triathloners … it’s a new year and we know our Phoenix family has set some lofty goals for a healthy 2020! Whether you are training for your first 5K or your fifth Iron Man, fuel your cause by making every mile count for the burn community through peer to peer fundraising!

What is Peer to Peer Fundraising?

This is a fun and easy way for you to fundraise on Phoenix Society’s behalf. It’s also known as social fundraising, personal or team fundraising. You may have even seen (and supported!) some of our most loyal peer to peer fundraisers.

Bob Duval Team Phoenix

Bob Duval - Northeast Regional Director / Fire Investigator, NFPA

Bob has been running for Team Phoenix since 2011. This past year, he doubled his fundraising goal - and had a personal best in his running time. This year, he’s training for the Boston Marathon.

“As a runner and a fire chief, raising funds for the Phoenix Society while running made perfect sense. In those last miles of a marathon, I find great inspiration from the fact that the money raised goes to such a great organization and helps so many wonderful people. After attending my first Phoenix World Burn Congress, I was moved and inspired by the survivors and the community. I felt the need to do more, hence the creation of Team Phoenix - Boston and our first running event.”

Jim Maymon Team Phoenix

Jim Maymon - Phoenix Board Member

Five years ago, Jim volunteered at Phoenix WBC. He walked away feeling the need to do something more. He was inspired to run and fundraise in support of Phoenix Society. To date, his team has raised over $35,000 for Phoenix Society’s mission of transformational healing.

“Over the years, I’ve been privileged to make many friends through my involvement. I’ve attended several Phoenix WBC events as a volunteer and as another way of participating, helping out, and giving back. I’ve been happy to bring new people into the Phoenix Society community through running events, hoping to spread the message of what the organization does and the burn community in general.”

Executive Director Amy Acton says it best: “Each year I am humbled by the level of support from our inspiring Team Phoenix Campaigns. Our athletes, serving as advocates who believe in building a community of transformational healing around the globe.”
