Tom Edge Receives Harman Award The Janet Harman Award is presented annually to honor an individual, family, or organization with a proven record of exceptional generosity, through direct financial support, and or volunteer effort. Awardees have demonstrated outstanding volunteer and charitable responsibility, and their generosity has encouraged others to take leadership roles within the Society so the organization can further its mission to support those affected by burn trauma. Introducing the winner of the 2006 Janet Harman award, Amy Acton remarked, “He’s a humble man. He’s a gentle man. He’s warm and giving. Many of you have probably received a Holiday card from him. Some of you, if not all of you, received a warm and giving hug from Mr. Tom Edge at this years World Burn Congress.” Tom has been a tireless supporter of the Society, explained Amy, including driving his truck each year, loaded with equipment and supplies, from the Society’s headquarters in Michigan to wherever World Burn Congress is being held. He has worked at the burn survivor benefit car show for over 10 years, completed SOAR training and reaches out to hundreds every year through cards and calls. He encourages us all to care a little more!
